State Senate
"The Camera supports incumbent Dan Gibbs, a Democrat, for Senate District 16. Gibbs has held the seat since Fitz-Gerald resigned. Gibbs is a firefighter from Silverthorne, and served in the state house and as a regional director and legislative staffer for Rep. Mark Udall. In his short tenure -- he was selected by a vacancy committee -- he has been a prime sponsor on 26 bills, 22 of which have passed. He is a team player who has a proven record of working with Republicans, and a terrific base of support from everyone from Realtors to unions to environmentalists."
"This is an easy one: Dan Gibbs of Silverthorne is the clear choice to represent District 16 in the Colorado Senate. His is a proven record of getting things done and keeping the interests of Summit County at the forefront at all times. In tight economic times he has managed to find state money to mitigate against wildfire and protect watersheds. He is practical, standing up to Denver Water on the Dillon Dam Road closure, at the same time working with local leaders and Denver Water to reopen the road. Gibbs has learned young how to bring diverse interests together to build coalitions."
"Dan Gibbs is clearly a rising star for our state legislature. Dan understands the needs of the Metro North region and our legislative priorities. He demonstrates wisdom and an experience level far surpassing his years. His sincere commitment to both constituent and community service is evidenced through the programs he supports. Dan sees the need to reprioritize our focus to transportation and the vital role it plays in our economic development, education and workforce development initiatives."
